Our book discussion group is reading “ Caleb’s Crossing” by Geraldine Brooks. It’s fiction work based on a small scrap of history about the first American Indian to attend Harvard College and the family that befriended him. Come join us Saturday December 17 at 9:00 am. Don’t forget - we have a great time – plus coffee and donuts and meeting other people who enjoy books!
Our next book will be “The Man Who Loved Books Too Much.” It’s a true story of an unrepentant book thief who stole a fortune in rare books just for the love of books!
We have several new magazine subscriptions. They include, Arizona Highways, Arizona Wildlife Views, Consumer Reports, Country Sampler, Family Fun, House Beautiful, Money, National Geographic, Phoenix Home & Garden, Readers Digest, Smithsonian, U S New and World Report, and Web MD. Remember, you can check out copies of all magazines except the current copy. We also have Mohave Valley Daily News and USA Today newspapers.
The children’s reading program is again underway! Santa will be here during our program at 2:30, December 21s. Plus, we’ll be making ginger bread houses! All of our programs are FREE. We have a children’s programs the once a 2:30. Kids of all ages are welcome.
The adults group, “The Valley Girls,” play Bunco once a month on the third Monday evening of each month. If you’re interested, give us a call at the library 768-1151 or Kathy at 768-7729.
Don’t forget that the library has free computer help every Tuesday 1:30 – 5:00 and Friday from 1:00 – 5:00. If you need help learning how to use the internet, e-mail, or even Facebook - Rona is here to help.
The Friends of the Library meet the first Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m. They are back in full swing again after the summer months. We had a book sale this past month and are planning another one in the spring. We decorated the library for Christmas and purchased candy canes for Santa’s visit on December 21. New members are always welcome. The purpose of the Friends group is to promote the library thru fund raising, book sales, advocacy and community awareness. We hope you’ll join us!
